A Fond Farewell to Clouddata: Introducing IDML, the Engine of Enterprise Integration
One year ago, Joynd and The Cloud Connectors formed Tavio, uniting under a shared vision to eliminate data chaos and unlock integrations at scale. As we enter this new era together, it is only fitting that the foundational technology powering our platform evolves with us.
Today, we are thrilled to announce that our proprietary Clouddata language is officially getting a new name: IDML, the Integration Data Manipulation Language.
Becoming the Standard
When we first developed Clouddata, we did so in order to solve complex data transformations using a simple, declarative language. It is far more than just a feature; it has proved itself worthy of consideration as an industry standard. Just as SQL is the standard language for interacting with relational databases, this language has become our definitive standard for data integration. The new name, IDML, accurately reflects its maturity and critical status as a standardized language for the integration landscape.
Moving Beyond HR Tech
This name change marks a significant turning point for Tavio. While our roots run deep in the HR Technology ecosystem, our platform is built to enable our partners and clients to solve complex data issues across industries. We are officially moving beyond that historical focus to become the definitive platform for enterprise integrations of all kinds.
Our expanded reach is accompanied by our latest connectivity capabilities designed to communicate across any enterprise stack. Most recently, we have introduced a modern EDI engine that translates complex X12 and EDIFACT B2B standards into developer-friendly JSON, replacing costly legacy VANs, which will help orchestrate the massive flow of freight and inventory data in the supply chain and logistics industry.
Additionally, we have launched our secure on-premises agent, which uses an outbound-only architecture to allow connectivity to systems within corporate firewalls without exposing inbound network ports. This opens the door for applications across multiple verticals where networked integrations were once difficult at best.
IDML is the connective tissue that bridges these legacy environments with the modern cloud API ecosystem.
The Core of the Tavio Platform
IDML is at the core of everything Tavio does. In addition to being the primary engine which drives the transformation of data between system schemas, it is also a fundamental building block for every smart connector we make.
By abstracting complex communication protocols, authentication, schema management, and pagination, IDML powers our library of over 350 pre-built connectors. It allows us to connect seamlessly with hundreds of enterprise applications and makes our data-as-configuration paradigm possible. It quite literally puts the “smart” in our smart connectors.
With IDML, you only need to engineer the complex integration logic once for a given solution, and you can handle customer-specific variations at deployment time via simple configurations. In other words, IDML is a core part of what allows you to scale every solution you build without having to manually manage burdensome branches of complex code within your workflows.
Looking to the Future
So today, we want to bid a fond farewell to the Clouddata name. It served us incredibly well, acting as the quiet powerhouse behind thousands of successful deployments. But as we look toward the future as Tavio, in business verticals including and extending beyond our origins, we are excited to embrace IDML. It represents an industry gold standard, and our infinite path forward: a unified platform ready to handle any protocol, any data volume, and any enterprise complexity, at any scale.
Welcome to the future of enterprise connectivity. Welcome to IDML.
