You need it if you want to integrate your cloud-based Tavio workflows with internal systems—like on-premise databases (SQL Server, Oracle), file servers, or legacy ERPs (like SAP)—that are not accessible from the public internet.

This is the key security benefit: no. The agent is designed with a "security-first" model and only uses outbound-only, encrypted WebSocket (wss://) communication over the standard TCP port 443. This eliminates the need for you to configure complex or risky inbound firewall rules, dramatically reducing your network's attack surface.

The agent is designed for high reliability. It features automatic reconnection with exponential backoff, local buffering of tasks, and intelligent retry logic to ensure that your integration workflows continue to operate and data is not lost during temporary network interruptions.
